Literature

Literature is perpetual, specifically undefined and meaningless because its meaning varies from person to person. Connoisseurs say that the literature is an art of written works but in the western nations, fiction and non-fiction are the most basic written literary types. If we widen the horizon then literature means any form of symbolic record that encompasses everything from sculpture to letters to images. On the other hand the narrow meaning says that the literature is all about text composed of letters or other symbolic languages. Literature is basically of distinct forms such as:-

  • Poetry
  • Prose
  • Essays
  • Fiction
  • Non Fiction
  • Drama
  • Oral literature

Several scholars and philosophers have defined the Literature in a comprehensive but a distinct manner. According to Imran Jafar al-Sadiq (a Muslim scholar and philosopher), "Literature is the garment which one puts on what he says or writes so that it may appear more attractive." Whereas Russian Formalist Roman Jakobson stated literature as "organized violence committed on ordinary speech". In legal language, the literary works are all kinds of work except the musical and dramatic work.

Presently, the literature studied by the students was extracted from different forms of literature and compiled in a book. Today’s generation is learning about literature in better manner and it gives a hope that the literature will soon come out of its perpetual, undefined and meaningless state. So the literature is not about formulas and scientific equations, it’s about you and society on the whole.
